If you haven't heard by now, Isaac Dickson Elementary School (at 125 Hill St.) is being demolished and rebuilt. This project is slated to continue into 2015. In the meantime, our children, and Isaac Dickson as a whole, have moved to the William Randolph School building at 90 Montford Ave. Although this school is configured a bit differently, it is still a wonderful place to teach our kids AND to house the festivities of the 2014 and possibly the 2015 Asheville Hot Chocolate 10K and Kids Hill Climb!
This year's course will start and finish in front of the school at 90 Montford Ave. Runners will stage in the bus lane which also ends up being an awesome finish line chute as well! Don't worry, the course will be certified***.
The video below was filmed on a beautiful Christmas(2013) morning, after all the presents were opened. There isn't a snowflake in sight (or Jus' Running sponsored mile marker) but we hope to give you a taste of how AWESOME this course really is! So, please sit back, prop your feet up, pop open a frosty Gatorade (or toasty-warm hot chocolate!) and enjoy. ~ Tim and Leslie Grotenhuis, Race Directors
***PLEASE NOTE: This 2014 Asheville Hot Chocolate 10K course will be USATF-certified. This means the course distance has been certified for accuracy. Courses must be certified for any road running performance to be accepted as a record or to be nationally ranked. Furthermore, running a race on a certified course allows you to accurately compare your time to performances run on other certified courses because you can be sure the distances were the same. No one can truly establish a personal best if the course distance is not accurate.
